Word Quest Strategy Guide: Solve in Four Guesses or Fewer

A field-tested strategy for 6-letter Word Quest — opening words, mid-game pivots, and end-game tricks that consistently land solves in four.

Opening words matter more than you think

Your first guess should expose vowels. AROUSE, ADIEUS, or RAISED cover four vowels each. Pair them with a consonant-heavy second guess like CLINGY or STOMPS.

The two-vowel pivot

If your opener returns two greens, do not jump to the answer — eliminate consonants instead. A targeted third guess is worth more than a lucky fourth.

End-game decisions

With two guesses left and three candidate words, guess the candidate that disambiguates if you fail — not the most likely answer. Information beats intuition.
